The i3-3225 maximum support memory speed is DDR3-1600 (see http://ark.intel.com/products/65692/Inte...e-3_30-GHz) so while the DDR3-1866 will likely work, it will be set to DDR-1600 so you might be able to save some money going with DDR3-1600 in the first place instead.

F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL (CAS 9)
F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL (CAS 9)
F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM (CAS 8)

Is 8GB RAM necessary for HTPC?

I thought 4GB is plenty but interested in others opinions.

It's not necessary, no. 4GB is enough for regular HTPC duties. But, if you're planning to do more (extenders, light gaming, etc.) and the price is pretty close then 8GB is a good choice.

SSDs and memory are in the same boat these days. 64GB and 4GB is enough. But depending on sales, $10-20 more might get you double the capacity so it's up to you to decide if that's worth it for later on.

After doing one more round of "make sure" I decided the go with the Gigabit mobo instead of the ASUS mostly because for the same or similar price I get a lot more features and options, only question is has anyone have experience with this mobo or any problems?
