I am running XBMC 12 alpha 7 with MythTV as backend. Everything works perfect. There is just one issue that is bothering me - when browsing the recordings list I would prefer to have it sorted by date instead of name. I could not find any option that would allow to chose the way the recordings are sorted in the list (name, date). Am I missing something or is such an option not available ?

You can change the order in the context menu of the recordings view.
The value is stored persistently for each folder.
Maybe it would be a good idea to change the default to sorted by date at some point...

Ooops, I forgot there are context menus :-) That did the trick, thanks a lot !!!
