VNSI don't Work
#1
This combnation did not work for me
- VDR 1.7.31 with vdr-vnsiserver-plugin (FernetMenta from Yesterday, 18. Nov)
- XBMC git https://github.com/FernetMenta/xbmc (from Yesterday, 18. Nov)
- XBMC-addon git https://github.com/FernetMenta/xbmc-pvr-addons (from Yesterday, 18. Nov)

VDR Says (2-3 times a second)
Quote:...
Nov 18 11:39:13 odin vdr: [24170] loading /vdr/services/vdr/etc/plugins/vnsiserver/allowed_hosts.conf
Nov 18 11:39:13 odin vdr: [24170] VNSI: Client with ID 483 connected: 192.168.10.10:49016
Nov 18 11:39:13 odin vdr: [21549] VNSI: Welcome client 'XBMC Media Center' with protocol version '2'

Nov 18 11:39:14 odin vdr: [21550] VNSI: Welcome client 'XBMC Media Center' with protocol version '2'
...

my allowed_hosts.conf
Quote:192.168.10.0/24 # any host on the local net

XBMC says
Quote:No PVR Clients activated ...

Same result with a plain and fresh ~/.xbmc Home
Seems VDR Server Plugin doesn't get Information from VDR (API changes with 1.7.31 ? Protocol version 2 ?) and so, didnt return to Caller

I used xvdr Plugin in the past, because I cant find a valid vnsiserver Plugin for current VDR (Is pretty old and did not compile).
But xvdr stopped Working with AutoUpdate on Wendsday, 15th Nov. With XBMC-PVR git from 30. Oct and new Frodo Beta1 did not work any more (XBMC crashes)

So, I'm glad to read about new development on vnsi by an XBMC Developer. I think it's much better using an integrated addon then a "Third Party" Product depending on good will of one Person

Thanks for suggestions

I have changed the protocol between vnsi and vdr-plugin-vnsiserver. Use both versions from:
https://github.com/opdenkamp/xbmc-pvr-addons

EDIT: opdenkamp is the official addon repo. We ensure that this always is compatible with XBMC mainline. It already contains my latest changes for VNSI.

Thanks a lot. I'll try later this evening

>> opdenkamp is the official addon repo
Ah, OK, I thought opdenkamp Repository is obsolet since PVR is merged to ofiicial XBMC Branch. Should I better use also his XBMC Branch not only the Addons ?

PVR main functionality was merged into mainline, not the pvr addons. Use opdenkamp repo only for addons, opdenkamp XBMC repo is used by him for staging.
In case you are on Linux with Nvidia or AMD graphics, I recommend to use my XBMC repo (https://github.com/FernetMenta/xbmc). It has lots of improvement for video playback not in the XBMC main repo yet.

@FernetMenta, Can I get some clarification.. I have vdr installed via yavdr stable ppas on a Linux server. I'm currently using the vnsi plugin from there. If I pull vdr-vnsi server from winspex ppa instead of yavdr version. Will it work with my clients which are running the latest nightly oe development builds. Or do I need to custom compile oe with the latest pull of pvr-addons from odpenkamp?

The OE Frodo builds pull the pvr addons from opdenkamp repo. Without updating the vdr-plugin-vnsiserver it won't work anymore (after Nov. 15th). I have changed the protocol and given up backward compatibility for now because there are much more changes to come.
I don't know how fast the guys from yavdr are in updating their repo. I know wsnipex repo has the latest vdr-plugin-vnsiserver. You can tell from the log: currently it should be protocol version 3.

I tried:
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/darwin...er-ios.deb (as you announced in http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=145348)

in conjunction

with https://launchpad.net/~wsnipex/+archive/...rig.tar.gz (compiled successful with vdr 1.7.32)

on my ipad2, but the vdr syslog say

Nov 18 22:53:35 home-server vdr: [27589] VNSI: Welcome client 'XBMC Media Center' with protocol version '2'
Nov 18 22:53:35 home-server vdr: [27589] VNSI-Error: Client 'XBMC Media Center' have a not allowed protocol version '2', terminating client
Nov 18 22:53:35 home-server vdr: [27589] VNSI-Error: Clients must be logged in before sending commands! Aborting.
Nov 18 22:53:36 home-server vdr: [25847] VNSI: Client with ID 5 seems to be disconnected, removing from client list

i thought the actual nightly Frodo builds for ios devices includes the latest pvr-vnsi-addon with protocol version 3 to, or is there anything what did im doing wrong?

hre1, you have a nightly of XBMC but not for the pvr-addons. The vnsi client you are running is before Nov. 15th.

Want to give a small feedback

Live TV ( SD and 720p ) works smooth
- No Audio / Video async
- Channel switch fast ( < 2 sec ) with a very small audio / video sync disturbance

Watching Recordings
- OK, like LiveTV
- FastForward / -Rewind not tried

VDR triggered timeshift (Watching still running Recordings)
- Stops playing after 20min (about). Restarts from the Beginning ( Not at the Point playing stops )
- FastForward / -Rewind works without refreshing Video. Sometimes crashes to XBMC Desktop

@FernetMenta
thank you very much your fast response!
I uninstalled my old ios xbmc (with a full delete of /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC) and did a fresh install of the latest nightly. Does your answer mean that the latest ios nightly does not include the new vnsi client with protocol version 3 and i have to build the pvr-addons myself? and if yes, when will provide the nightlies the new vnsi-client?

hre, I don't know much about the ios repo. Recently we had a discussion if we should package XBMC and the pvr addons together. This would avoid those kind of problems. Looks like the packager only updated XBMC but not the pvr addons.
Can you ping the packager about this?

Quote:VDR triggered timeshift (Watching still running Recordings)
This is a problem in core XBMC which needs to be fixed. ffmpeg does not re-estimate length of a file once it got started.

Are you saying you have no audio? What are referring to with "works smooth"? Or do you mean no a/v desync?

Oh, sorry for my English
I ment there is no Problem with Audio / Video Sync ( no a/v desync )

Thanks for clarification.
I think it was the white spaces between A / V which confused me. No audio (break), video async, oops Smile
