tryied instaling flicks from a zip i got from here some where and xbmc said the zips file structure was bad

Are you referring to the XBMC Flicks add-on? Even if you could get it installed, I don't think it's been working for some time. Check this thread if you haven't already: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=87552
(just read the last dozen or so pages to get the gist of its current state).
