Hi
Is there a way to make XBMC change resolution dependant of what it finds in the filename?
The reason why I want to do that is that my projector is only able to do 3D SBS when the resolution output is 1080i/60hz or 1080i/50hz.
So if I put "SBS" in the filename of a MKV movie, I would want that XBMC switch resolution automatically. Is there a script I can modify to do this ?
Thank you very much!

Resolution changes are made via xbmc-xandrc but IIRC you cant change resolution just because of filename
Usually you can define the modelines in xorg.conf to determine general resolution/refresh rates. You can only do resolution changes based on modelines or your driver via xbmc-xandrc
As far as I know (which isn't much) your endeavour doesn't seem possible, but maybe someone can help you there.
Have a peek at an old topic which tells you how to work with modelines in xorg.conf.

Im working on updating that guide and move it to wiki but essentially you can get a general idea from that.

To expand on what uNi said, XBMC only displays things in the UI differently based on file name tags (see
media flags (wiki)), depending if your skin supports it. This does not actually change how XBMC plays things back.

Media flags (wiki) not media tags.
