Gah sorry, I read that as two optical disk drives.

As of the latest audio driver update things are a bit different:

It might be worth saying that when I open the movie file I get about a second of audio and no video before it crashes.

Also, I tried adding some music, and played it no problem.

So I decided maybe I was barking up the wrong tree with this whole idea that it was audio related. I looked into finding new video drivers, updated them, and bam!
