What's the overhead on running your own indexer? - Depends on how many groups and how much you index (3 days - 3 years?)
Can you choose particular newsgroups to index off of only? Yes.
Are there any significant risks to indexing yourself? Nope.

One of the few sites left that still has decent browsing, sites like binsearch.info are good if you know what you want but if you're browsing it kinda sucks. Only downside is nzbsrus are going to VIP/invite only and $12/year. |

couldn't give me a quick rundown on how to use nzbindex.nl could you? I tried by ticking the boxes next to each line e.g. file.r01 then file.r02 until I saw the maximum number of rXX I could, then clicked Create NZB but the resulting file size was too small, any tips please?

like every other nzbindex search engine,
type in the search box what you're looking for. then you get a list of what has been found and if it's complete. you will see a "download" and a "view collection" link where you press on download and you download the nzb and load it in your usenet program. or you can use a chrome SABnzbd extension where you will also a link-icon in the list, when you press on it you send it right to your sabnzbd client.
