Question
How does one set up the IPTV in tvheadend so that it works with http streams?
E.g. this type of streams: http://188.60.100.60:8080/stream/?channe...layer=http

I tryed placing it in the Group column, but it does not work. Do I have to convert my streams to udp streams?

I've been told that tvheadend does support http streams as iptv services.

You've been correctly informed, HTTP input is not supported. It wouldn't be a massive job to add it but you need to find someone with the time and inclination.

Ah, I was afraid of that Sad
So there are no backends that support http as input?

Thank you for your reply.

It's not exactly a backend, but pvr.demo addon allows to watch any kind of streams (http, udp, rtsp), but with limited features: no EPG or recording support.

@Roman, hehe yeah I know Smile I am using that one. Would be nice to have at least EPG in the future. recording is not important.

Try VDR. It's difficult to configure, but I think it supports http streams (that's why I stick to tvheadend Wink).

Yes VDR was an option, but as I could understand it does not have EPG support for simple http streams. VDR reads EPG via the channel, http streams do not containt that data.

In other words, no XMLTV epg support Smile

"Currently the IPTV plugin has direct support for both multicast UDP/RTP and unicast HTTP MPEG1/2 transport streams."

There is no support for HTTP with h264 video stream.

Hi everyone, any chance somebody could explain to me how to setup some udp channels in TvHeadend so that they will play in xbmc? basically I can add sm channels on the configuration page of TvHeadend, however nothing I add will play. If anybody has some working channels that I could use to test my setup, could you please share?

I'm facing the same problem. I've added some IPTV services that work when played in VLC, but not in XBMC.
