Linux OpenGL on Radeon
#1
I have a laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics card. Up to Ubuntu 12.04, it worked just fine, but I recently upgraded to 12.10, and apparently Radeon have stopped releasing drivers for this card, so I no longer have hardware support for OpenGL. Which means that XBMC no longer runs.

Does anyone know how I can make it work again?

Thanks.

the open source "radeon" driver will still work. But I guess you are talking about fglrx, AMDs binary driver, which indeed does not support series <=5xxx in ubuntu 12.10 anymore.

You will need to add this ppa: https://launchpad.net/~makson96/+archive/fglrx
This will downgrade your X-server and some other stuff, but there is no way around it if you need fglrx on your card.

Thanks! That worked great!

I don't imagine that I'll miss Xserver 1.13 anywhere near as much as XBMC.
