xbmc random freeze during video stream

...and cpu at 100%.
This has happened few times since yesterday evening when I have installed ubuntu maverick 32bit + nvidia 260.19.44 from source + the lastest 10.1 dharma
The machine is a ZOTAC ZBOX HD-ND22 with nvidia ION and intel celeron cpu, ssd 16GB ssdnow s100, 4gb ram, /tmp mounted as tmpfs, root is ext4, no swap cause of being ssd and having so much ram I don't need it.
I have followed the following howto http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBMCbuntu and everything worked fine.

The problem happens randomly, sometimes after few minutes, sometimes after 20 minutes of streaming.
The machine is still reachable via ssh, but the screen just hangs and does not respond to any remote/keyboard input.
The video plugin is Raiclick, which is fully supported by xbmc community.
I haven' t tried yet with a movie ( nfs share on my nas ).

The relevant part of the debuggin log is :

00:11:42 T:2848406384 M:3783024640 DEBUG: CDVDPlayerAudio:: Discontinuity - was:191761315.340577, should be:191470189.496990, error:-291125.843587

00:11:52 T:2925525872 M:3783196672 INFO: CDVDPlayerVideo - Stillframe detected, switching to forced 25.000000 fps

I know it's just a warning, but these lines are the last lines in the log and they always occur when the problem happens.

Just wondering if there was a resolution to this? I finally got a ZBOX to play all my 720 and 1080P movies stutter free (used to have the ATV1 with broadcomm chip) and randomly the 720p mkv movie froze as described by OP and I had to reboot. It happened a couple of times and once I rebooted, I just had to seek to where I was up to and it was fine. I didn't try connecting to the device from the network or getting the logs.

I thought it might be the dodgy USB stick I was using running XBMC live, haven't installed to the HDD yet but now I'm thinking it's a driver or ubuntu issue?

Should I just install Windows 7, what do people recommend?

Ive installed XBMC live to the HDD no usb stick anymore. Let the movie run twice over night no issues, woke up this morning and started the movie again and within a few minutes it was freezing then when I hit a key it froze (no num lock response). But I can see my NAS is fine but no traffic coming from it anymore in the graphs. I can still SSH to the Zbox fine and run top, CPU is .7% but occassionally xbmc.bin and XORG using 100% then nothing. What information can I grab that would be useful?

Hi,

I have a zotac ionitx-b-e mini itx intel motherboard, and have same problems.
Not checked if i can reach the machine through ssh.

My "freezing time" is under 48 hours running xbmc.

I have checked core temps, voltages...and not seems to be a problem.

It happens randomly even when xbmc is not doing anything.

I'm going to check Lirc and Imon drivers because i have an Nox-Live II Box.

Yes, this is happening to me as well on my Zotac Zbox AD12. I get the same meeage in the xbmc.log file. I've made a post about this problem and no one seems to have an answer for it. I'm going to see if this is just isolated to the Zbox installation of Ubuntu 12.04 with XBMC installed on it. I'm going to try XBMC on my desktop PC first on Ubuntu 12.04 32 bit and then on Windows 7. Perhaps there is something wrong with using live streams on the Zbox? I'll find out.
