Does anybody know how we can upgrade our appletv''s to try out the new frodo images?

OOps wrong section, please move to Mac OSX section as this has to do with appletv1. Thanks!

Been trying it out: http://forum.stmlabs.com/showthread.php?tid=6075

So far it's hard to tell if it's faster or slower than before, since it's only running on a USB drive, and I only have a slow USB drive to test on. However, if you want Frodo on the ATV1, I would recommend going with Crystalbuntu 2. I tried OpenELEC and had horrible issues with streaming add-ons and most 1080 content (local or otherwise). For example, using the HDHomeRun's new UPnP feature totally killed and locked up OpenELEC on ATV1, but even on the USB drive, Crystalbuntu2 had no issues.

I love OpenELEC for many devices, but for the ATV1 I gotta say that Crystalbuntu still beats it.

I forgot to update this thread. So I hear that this shouldn't be typical behavior of OpenELEC on the ATV1. Will keep testing both as updates and improvements roll out.

When is this 2.0 thing getting out of the testing phase? Running an outdated XBMC version on a USB drive really sucks. Thanks.

it works like a charm here…
since i use a usb 3.0 stick it's faster than before – and cb 2 with xbmc is faster, too!
not sure if running from a hdd (or sdd) would make a big difference…

now, the only thing i would still like to see is that i'd like to change the audio-stream while watching a movie – so that i can switch between dd 5.1, truehd, stereo, dts or dts hd…
that would be awesome!
crisis? what crisis?

ATV1 can't do trueHD or DTS HD, btw. Hardware limitations with the HDMI stuff in the ATV1.

It's pretty sluggish on mine. I may try a newer stick if this thing isn't coming out of testing anytime soon.

Easiest way to test Crystalbuntu 2.0 is to use windows:

http://download.crystalbuntu.com/installers/
Download cb-win32.zip 01-Mar-2013 18:33 92K (Or newer)

Extract zip archive and open crystalbuntu-win.exe.

Insert USB cable, and you are good to go.
