I have atv2. Version 4.4.4. I recently saw a how to guide on apple tv hacks on upgrading to 5.0.1. Is it worth it to upgrade to a newer version? And has anyone been successful on an upgrade from 4.4.4

Probably best to decide yourself by looking at the feature list:
