Power on tv with cec
#1
In an effort to havev a single remote to power everything is it possible to power on a tv using hdmi cec but with a keyboard key(s)?

I have cec setup but since its slower everyone tends to use the boxee box remote, since it has a full keyboard on the back it would be awasome to map a shortcut key/combo that would toggle the power on the tv thus elemanating the use of the tv remote.

I don't think CEC is active unless the TV is on so I doubt this is possible. You'd need to send the IR code to the TV to power it on.

Some RPi distributions (eg. OpenELEC 6.0, possibly others) include a version of Kodi that has additional CEC options to control the speed of CEC button repeats, which might resolve your "slower" issues.

Back to your question: you could use this add-on to send activate, standby and toggle CEC commands.
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.

That addon seems to work based on a link instead of a keyboard shortcut or am i missing something?

You create a script that requests the link (makes the http request). Configure your remote to call your script.
