Hi guys

I have recently purchased a TV tuner card for my XBMC pc and have had some issues getting it working, I am running XBMCbuntu "frodo" RC1 have installed the drivers as per the read me files in the package.

When i goto use their app szap-s2 to lock onto a channel and start a scan it appears to hang on me and im not sure where to start working this out. I am currently installing the myth TV backend at the moment to see if I am able to scan for channels from there.

Below is the output from when I try to scan for channels.

Code:
matt@XBMC:~/tbs/szap-s2$ ./szap-s2 -c astra_szap-s2.conf -p -r -S 0 "BBCHD"
reading channels from file 'astra_szap-s2.conf'
zapping to 4 'BBCHD':
delivery DVB-S, modulation QPSK
sat 0, frequency 10847 MHz V, symbolrate 23000000, coderate auto, rolloff 0.35
vpid 0x157c, apid 0x157d, sid 0x1b1c
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'

content of the astra config file.

I'm not an expert on the dvb utilities, but normally you'd use one of the scan commands (http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Scan) to scan, no?

i'm sure zap is for locking onto a channel not scanning for one.

as dodoadoodoo said use the scan command or use the w_scan command, i prefer this one as the frequency files the scan command uses aren't always up to date, w_scan will scan all of them.

mythtv should be able to handle the card ok but it's setup is a bit daunting, this guide helped me when i was setting it up.

Wooo,

I have done a Scan-S2 and it seems to have picked up some channels so i know it works now just have to get mythTV working now.

I managed to get it installed yesterday and tryied to configure it but when scanning for channels I get the "error parsing peramiters"

I will have a look through the guide that Deadlite66 linked and see if i have missconfigured mythTV.

Cheers guys.
