AE "Error no devices found"

Running the Raspberry Pi, Raspbmc connected to a Sony AV receiver via HDMI then on to a Samsung TV. With AudioEngine disabled I am able to select HDMI as the output and enable AC3/DTS pass-thru. Sadly, with AE enabled I don't get HDMI as an option and no audio devices are available.

Using Frodo on a Windows build, this does work so I'm assuming it's a Pi issue. Is there anything I can do apart from hope this gets fixed?

There is no AudioEngine support in XBMC for RPi.

There are builds of Raspbmc with AudioEngine support, so am I to assume this is not officially supported but enabled by the good people at Raspbmc?
