Importing EPG from Clients
#1
When I start xbmc, this message appears at the top right corner. It takes ~5 minutes for it to finish. During the 5 minutes, it looks like it is hung on the first channel in the list. After ~5 minutes, the progress bar moves and it progresses through all of the channels. It doesn't take very long for the progress bar to complete once it gets going. I've also seen the same behavior on Raspbmc and Android (both using Frodo RC2). Is this a problem with the MythTV backend or with the MythTV add-on?

xbmc version 2:12.0~git20121230.0200-3a3e082-0precise
Athlon II X4 630
4GB RAM
Ubuntu 12.04
MythTV 0.25 backend is on the same machine as xbmc

Here is xbmc.log: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1481069/

The first channel is shown by this log entry:
19:10:36 T:140462180484864 INFO: EPG - UpdateFromScraper - updating EPG for channel 'EPG Local Sports 3 Hrs.' from client '1'

followed by the rest of them starting at:
19:14:59 T:140462180484864 INFO: EPG - UpdateFromScraper - updating EPG for channel 'KDTN' from client '1'
19:14:59 T:140462180484864 INFO: EPG - UpdateFromScraper - updating EPG for channel 'KAZDDT (KAZD-DT)' from client '1'
19:14:59 T:140462180484864 INFO: EPG - UpdateFromScraper - updating EPG for channel 'KDFW' from client '1'
.
.

What's up with the 4+ minute delay?

We have dramatically improved the startup time in the development version.
You can either build it from github.com/fetzerch/xbmc-pvr-addons http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=PVR...FromSource
or be patient until is stabilizes and we release it into the official xbmc addon builds.

So then the problem is with the MythTV add-on? All that wiki link shows is "There is currently no text in this page".

Yes. It's the addon. I've fixed the link to the page.

I'm having an issue here where the notification box which announces "importing epg from client" and houses the progress bar either freezes, or finishes but doesn't exit -I can't tell which.

It's this a known issue?

Frodo final, myth 0.26, on ubuntu...

I've built OpenELEC using the new version of the plugin for two platforms, and you can download it here:

ION x86_64: http://www.mediafire.com/?3lb9z64626jircr

Raspberry Pi: http://www.mediafire.com/?ch12hu0dxee5oac

Use at your own risk, of course.

Hope this helps.

I'm on the latest version of Xbmc and, I assume, the latest version of the mythtv client add-on. Just to be sure, I ran:

sudo apt-get install xbmc-pvr-mythtv-cmyth

I still witness an extended load time on the EPG when it starts up. I could live that (though I'd prefer not to). What I really don't care for is the way the message box showing the progress of the load just... stays there.

It's there a fix for that, or should I just wait while bigger fish are fried?
