Hi,

I'm new here Smile DTS is licensing issue, but I believe we'll override this... source codes.... hard to get, unless you don't have SLA and NDA signed with Amlogic. After that you can access to their repositories to get sources. And after that you have to consult manufacturers engineer on which changes you have to appy to kernel and bootloader to make it work Smile

Btw, Tronsmart is not manufacturer of device... Hint: go to alibaba.com and search for spaceship android tv box Smile

There's a new firmware update out now that has hardware XBMC decoding.
http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php/201...load-here/
I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Next week we are apparently getting Android 4.2 with the DTS issue fixed.

Ok, after a quick test I can say this:
1. I couldnt start any videos from my smb-shares in their xbmc ver
2. The hdmi passthrough doesent seam to work yet either, just static when setting hdmi passthrough in android settings and their xbmc and a reboot seams to reset the android setting to pcm even though the settings shows hdmi passthrogh
3. tried to play h264_1080p_hp_4.1_40mbps_birds.mkv from sd-card and that played smooth

Thanks for the education....So what version of XBMC should I be looking for? I still want the Android OS, So I am assuming I will download an apk from xbmcandroid. I see the breakthrough for Pivos user's, does this affect my new device. I emailed geekbuying to see what support they where going to supply...

Hi, Too many people are to quick to slag of unit's before they know anything about them
The prometheous box is the one to get and i can tell you why as i have a test unit here
First of all you will have lots of support from the manufacture because there is firmware updates available to download from their website, which they update with fixes quite regular, so it doesn't matter where you buy them from, (unlike pivos that only they sell their unit's as well as very poor performance units as they are M3)
They have their own xbmc build which fully supports hardware encoding (no external player used)
compared to pivos this unit is fast and plays all mkv's as smooth as you will find (pivos even with hardware encoding still suffer problems as the cpu is too slow and uses 100% usage all the time with 1080p mkv's)
The only thing you will need to purchase seperatly is the remote as it does not come with one
So in my opinion this unit wipes the floor of any other android box if wanting it for XBMC
Here is the link for the updates which also supply roothed firmware with xbmc hardware support
http://www.tronsmart.com/download.aspx
So you can rest now and enjoy the box when you receive it

@psxwizz: altho you have only 1post in this forum, i own one of those box and its a total disaster

buyers beware of this android box!!

I SAY DO NOT BUY!

support for it is non-existent except for a useless facebook page!
look here --> http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tronsmart-...0955686030
many complaints about bugs!

and the box overheats when playing games like Angry Birds which ends up FREEZING
the whole system requiring a hard reboot start over!!

you need to do a MOD like shown --> http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechforum/...133&t=1340
to try to prevent heating issues!!

can't even play games for 15 minutes without it freezing on me!! crazy overheat
and the cpu doesn't have a heatsink on it so,
its simply terribly designed!!

its AV port simply doesn't work and they know it, and they won't fix it.

about this so called xbmc 1080P hardware decode firmware they just released
read more --> http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechforum/...131&t=1683

Also note that they've been asked to respect the GPL license by releasing the source code to users who requested it
and they won't give it to them, and that's a total violation!!
read the saga here --> http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1302395
user named Vissontech is a representative of the company...

do you really want to put yourself in such a stress??

definitely AVOID this box!! Keep the money in your pocket!!
