Is this in answer to the dts/pcm - xbmc crash or the not working update?

copy the img files to the sd card
unplug all usb devices insert the sd card
unplug the power cord. press reset button at the back (with a pen) plug in the power cord while pressing reset

you should be in recovery mode
flash both img files from sdcard
remember if you want xbmc to work with hardware decoding use the firmware from the first post (news link)

Hello,
and many thanks for your fast answer.
Please allow one more question:

Shall i just do that with the SPI or with the firmware also?

You speek about "flash both img files"...
The spi has 3 img files and the firmware also.

Thanks in advice

don't unzip them, use the update app to select, one at a time. do the spi 1st, then the next one.

first the good news - XBMC using DVDPlayer outputs AC3 and DTS through SPDIF.
now the bad news - this is the non hw accelerated player and can work only with sd content (but works fine)

the AMLPlayer only outputs pcm.
at least it's just a software issue

on the older firmware that I reverted back to the stock android player also outputs only pcm

Thats sounds really good! Should be easy to fix. Android 4.1 + Dualcore + XBMC + DTS passthrough Nod
I will buy one.

Hello,

i am not able to use the app as my box is broken after i tried the update.
It starts to boot, the android robot is shown and nothing happens anymore.
So i have to flash (again) without using the app and don't know how...

if you flashed the spi then just unpack the firmware - you will get update_en.img
copy the img file to the sd card
unplug all usb devices insert the sd card
unplug the power cord. press reset button at the back (with a pen) plug in the power cord while pressing reset
you should be in recovery mode
flash the img file from sdcard

Stop that unpacking crap. A xxxx.img file IS a xxx.zip, just renamed. That's how Android works. Both of those files ARE img files, just rename them.

If using the 20120918 packages, you need to unzip both files to get the .img's
If using the 20121210 packages, you need to rename both .zip files to .img

Then use a paper clip and start the unit in recovery as per the instructions from 'srle' above
You will need to flash both SPI and firmware files

BTW, you want to be on 20120918, if you need hardware acceleration in XBMC
on 20121210 latest XBMC RC3 works, but no hardware acceleration

Netflix works on both releases

20121210 is a overall a better firmware, but kind of useless for XBMC at this point

Hey,

Just about to receive my ATV1200 that I ordered and just wanted to clarify a few things from this thread.

So running the 20120918 firmware, hardware acceleration works but only in older versions of XBMC (not the latest v12 rc3)?

Running 20121210 has no hardware acceleration, but runs the latest version of XBMC - does this include XBMC builds with AMLPlayer since its using the AML8726-MX chipset, or is it only referring to the standard android build of XBMC?

If running the the AMLPlayer build on android, slre noted that it only has PCM audio output - but if you plug it the box to a audio receiver and enable DTS playthrough, that should solve that problem, yeah?

Lastly, whats the max storage size of an external USB HDD that its capable of reading? I've tried emailing Geniatech with no reply and can't find the answer anywhere on Google. I would assume it would at least support a 2TB HDD, but has anyone tried it with a 3TB HDD?

Thanks and sorry for all the questions!
