slow channel changes
#1
Hi all,
I have recently made the jump to XBMC from WMC and i must say thst the channel changes are painfully slow. Average time to change is 7-10 secs!
I'm using Win7, Frodo RC2, and ArgusTV.

System - Hauppage HVR-2200 tuner, A8-5400k APU, 8GB DDR3 ram.

Cheers

Currently you get fast channel changes only with tvheadend and vnsi (vdr).

Same slow changes with Frodo RC2 and DVBLink, but can live with that rather than go back to the dull MCE!

I agree about going back to MCE totally, but something else I have noticed is the quality of the picture during live TV. I have noticed some tearing that I don't see with MCE. Same settings as MCE video wise, just using XBMC for TV instead.
Anyone else noticed this?

Same as...video quality perfect but sd tv looks bad compared to mce but hd tv looks pretty good... hopefully this is something that will improve over time. ..

I'm using xbmc eden with pvr ( http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7249985/xbmc/xbm...gro_v4.exe ) and mediaportal server. channel switch in 2sec.
Slow channel switch is THE big frodo's problem for me. see : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=141039&page=2 for more detail

Thanks for the info Smile
Only thing holding me to Frodo at the moment is the XBMC AudioEngine support.
Is that able to be patched to Margo's Eden builds?

try argustv and decrease the timings in argustv plugin. then you will have switching times 1-3 seconds.

Where do I find these timings?
And what is your timing set to?

Found it,
XBMC/Settings/Add-ons/Enabled Add-ons/PVR clients/Argus TV client/configure
Change the value in "Delay after tuning (ms)" to "1"
