Eduard K. who is the current developer of XBMC-DSPlayer branch has developed a code patch for correct handling of Blu-rays with external players.
Currently the default XBMC's Bly-ray title choice dialog pops-up even if you set/select external players for your Blu-ray .bdmv and iso files. This includes the situation when you hanven't set external players for Blu-ray .bdmv and iso files specifically but want to select a necessary player via "Play with..." dialog.
The patch fixes this issue and now Blu-rays are directly passed to a designated player which then handles them. The default XBMC's Bly-ray title choice dialog pops-up only if a Blu-ray has been passed to the internal dvdplayer.

I have tried blu-ray handling on the current XBMC-DSPlayer - it handles Blu-rays with external players correctly.
Eduard K. is not very fluent in English and asked me to pass this information to XBMC core developers to implement this code patch in the base XBMC code.
