First off... WMC and Mede8er out the door, XMBC with Transparency is very nice, absolutely love it.

What would really put the cherry on the cake is; instead if the icon [CC] when subtitles is included in the container some indication of the language the subs.

Is this something that would be a future option?

nope, not really possible atm.
