Tvheadend just doesn't work on my box (using a Hauppauge HVR2210 tuner card) so I was wondering if there was some other backend I could use?

Doesn't all backends rely on that the card is supported and works in Linux? So another backend wont help you if you cant get it to work with f.ex. mplayer. Unless you want to switch to Windows?

Thanks - I'd rather not have to use Windows if possible, the OpenELEC thing seems otherwise pretty good.

i think that in the long run you'll be better off buying another dvb-t card.
preferably one that works ok in linux.
tv-headend is becoming the best pvr backend system faster and faster these days.
