Would there be benefits in using the MPextended Service as a basis for the XBMC Media Portal plugin?

I am interested in hearing what people thought about this.

I have MPExtended installed and use it to drive a aMPdroid on a couple of Nexus tablets and also WebMediaPortal on my desktop machine:

MPExtended has Power Scheduling features built in, so if it is providing a stream (to XBMC) then it will prevent the server from shutting down.

MPExtended can also send a WOL signal when requested.

Sure, it saves one plugin at the TV Server side.
I've shortly looked into this in the past, but due to lack of time I've never started experimenting with MPextended as replacement for the TVServerXBMC plugin.

Hi has there been any more thought about using mpextended? I have xbmc running on a ouya and an odroid u2, neither one can stream freeview HD channels in xbmc but the ampdroid app works fine.

Erichzann - when you say you are using WemMediaPortal on your desktop machine - is this a machine running Linux or Windows?

@grimfandango: No. This basically requires a new or completely rewritten MediaPortal PVR addon and I don't have time to do it, so I leave this open for others to pick it up...
