Question about deinterlacing
#1
Hi,

Quick question that I can't find an answer to. More a curiosity than actual problem.

On my setup, if I enable deinterlacing by any method (bi-linear etc), the fps shoot upwards of 60fps. If I disable this feature entirely it sits around the 24fps of normal video.

My question is, why does it do this, and is there any advantage to this other than the processing that deinterlacing does to the video (I can't see any difference to how the video looks on my tv with it either enabled or disabled other than it appears slightly smoother at 60fps obviously)? I understand what deinterlacing does but seeing how I can't see any difference apart from the higher fps, is there any other compelling reason why I should keep it on?

Thanks

Ross
