[RELEASE] Rapier 5.7.3 for XBMC 12.x Frodo [DEPRECATED]
Hi Gade,
Today I have migrated to Gotham and I'm very unhappy here without Rapier Sad
How soon are you going to release Rapier for Gotham? It is the best skin for XBMC and I aleady can't imagine XBMC without Rapier.

I actually have my copy of Rapier (Modded) working with Gotham. This skin is a nightmare to convert to Gotham. I had to do so much realigning for the TV episode views.

Here is what I have done so far:

- Dialog screens (Text realigned - completed)
- TV Views (List Info 2 view, List View and Thumbs Info View completed)
- Topbar menu Text realigned - completed)
- IMDB Ratings Text realigned - completed)
- Scrolling View Text repositioned - completed) <- not quite sure what this is called. It is the Letters that show up while scrolling through movies & tv shows.
- Info View (while watching a movie or tv show text has been realigned - completed)
- Pause screen (Text, images and clearart have all been realigned - completed)

I still have to add the Settings Level button to the System Settings screen. This is proving to be extremely frustrating so far. Maybe someone can have a go at it. Other than that, the skin is performing quite well.

I will post the my modded version to anyone who is willing to help me with it. I will also post some updated screenshots of this version, especially how the metadata actors screens blend in perfectly with Rapier.

Cheers

Yeah I noticed a few weeks back when testing the RC version how the alignment was out on virtually every view. The folders and text were all out of whack.

Glad to see (in a way) that it's a global issue and work is being done to resolve.

Many thanks.

Hi AlexM600.

I will soon release one final version for Frodo and then begin work on Rapier for Gotham.

Hi guys.

I'm currently implementing clear logos for the music library using CDArt Manager.

How do you structure your music library?

Mostly people use:

Path To Music Library / Artist / Album

Do some of you structure it differently?

Hey Christian,

Hope all is good with you.

Mine is Music Library/Artist/Year - Album

Hi Jav.

Cool, thanks.

Do you use CDArt Manager and does it store the clear logos in the Artist folder?

I am afraid I don't use CDArt manager anymore, mainly because it was only doing things the way it wanted and not the way I wanted. For example: it would bring in the first CDart or album image available from fanart.tv, without giving me the choice to decide which to download amongst all the versions/variations for a particular album. This soon became very limiting and irritating because it would just contribute to an undesirable inconsistency between the specific albums in my music library and what I was visually seeing in terms of album and cdart images.

Ahaa, I see - that makes sense. Do you use an alternative or do it manually?

I still think a lot of people use CDArt Manager or clear logos in general for their music collection, and that's why I create support for it.

For now I will use the Path/Artist/... structure, since I believe most people have artist folders which contains the lgoos. But I can always make support for multiple structures.

If the user of Rapier have CDArt Manager installed, when they enter the skin settings, they will be prompted to enter the path to the music library. This can also be done manually in the skin settings under Media.

Hi Christian,

I do it manually, at least the cdart/album art part, which is a very sensitive area for me. I do use the add-on sometimes to scrape new additions and then I correct the art manually too. Having NFO for each album is very important to me as well. I am looking forward to working with a dedicated Music Manager one day though. I hope Macedo's work gets to be released this year:

and a heads up regarding new DialogVideoInfo control statements for TvTunes and VideoExtras for Gotham (there are some changes in the arguments. For clarification read here). They both now support music videos, besides usual movies and TV shows:

Have a good one!

Hi Jav.

Do you put the clear logos in the artist folders manually?

That looks very interesting with the music managers. Can't wait to see where it goes Smile

Thanks for the heads up regarding the VideoExtras and TvTunes add-ons. I already made support for VideoExtras in music videos, and I will check + make sure that everything is up to date with the two add-ons for the next (and final) update of Rapier for Frodo and also the upcoming release for Gotham.

The Clear logos, yeah... I remember once I had most of my music scanned into XBMC library, I had all the logos fetched automatically, then I did a massive library export, so all the images finally would be located in each album's folder. After that, I proceeded to manually correct all the images and refrained from any further library export since that would have overwritten my newly manually and 'arduously' fetched images. From that point on, I only go adding new albums occasionally for which I get all fanart manually. As you can see I can't wait to try that new Music Manager!

It is great that Rapier is getting all the whistles! The new DialogVideoInfo.xml are good for both Frodo and Gotham, by the way, as I am sure you realised ;-)

Best! Jav

Hi Jav.

Cool. Rapier will use the clear logos from the artist folders, once you have entered the path in the skin settings. If you don't have CDArt Manager add-on installed, you can enter the path under Skin Settings -> Media.

I also like to have total control regarding the images for movies, tv shows, music videos and music. So I know exactly what you are saying Smile

Just updated to Gotham on my mac. Is really frustrating to be without Rapier. My favorite feature on Rapier is the movies Wall view. The ability to scroll horizontally sets of 24 movies at a time is so convenient for anyone with a huge movie collection. Really miss that.
