What skins are people using??
#1
I've personally made the move away from Confluence and have started using Quartz reloaded (which has a hint of Aeon about it) and runs really well.

Just wanted to know what skins people are using and how they perform, and maybe get a list of skins that work and look good on the pi?

Similar performance to Confluence, maybe a bit better.

Installation is somewhat complicated. Download from Jeroen's Github, change the dependencies on the addon.xml file and install via zip as usual.

What dependencies did you need to change in the Addon.xml?

cant your just manually install the skin by unzipping it and dropping it in the appropriate directory?
Thats what I had to do with quartz reloaded

I've been having trouble installing from zip due to 'dependencies not met' error, but managed to get past this by changing an entry in the addon.xml from 'xbmc gui 3.0' to 4.0.

Hybrid (see signature) - runs great on the Pi and ATV'2

There's also a WIP skin called Titan that is looking promising.

Modded Confluence Vol 2 work well but something are missing .. like be able to change the defaut wallpaper where you are in a section ..(it don't keep the one you put on the home menu for this section) and some vues for the list mode, like low title (i use it in another confluence mod..)

For moment i use Transparency, but not sure it's really fast ...

Switching between Confluence and Modded Confluence Vol 2.
Tried Hybrid but it was (way) to slow, even if I turned everything off.

@nsviper
What is your speed on Hybrid compared to Confluence?

Nice and slick here for me - can't say I spotted any real difference between Confluence and Hybrid

I'm running xbian on my Pi at the moment - had issues with openelec and Raspbian

Quartz reloaded runs really quick on the Pi. Used to have Hybrid but QR is much faster.

I really like Hybrid, think it is one of the best skins atm.
It would be nice to have it running smoothly on the Pi.
What overclocking settings do you use?

And was it skin issues you had on the other distros or just "regular issues"?

No just regular issues - nothing skin related.

The XBian just seems to be more stable, even although its running XBMC Frodo RC1 at the moment, the underlying OS seems better (in my opinion) so far.

Had issues with booting sometimes not working in openelec and raspbian.

XBian comes with overclocking enabled as default, but just the "medium" settings, nothing over the top. (Sorry at work at the mo, can't confirm exact settings)

I'll most likely end up with raspbian or xbian installed as I want to get a bluetooth keyboard working with it to allow me to use the Pi as a "mobile" media center (and openelec is a bit too tied down to allow this). The plan is to have the Pi in a case, an attached micro usb hub (powered), usb disk attached (Freecom XXS 1TB - tiny but good storage), and the BT keyboard so I can carry it about and plug it into any HDMI capable TV without having to worry about wifi access or cec control (if TV doesnt support it)
