openELEC, connected but no Internet
#1
Hi

I recently got my hands on a Asrock ION c330 and i tought that I would be done with the Windows version of XBMC. So I installed openELEC on it and everything went smooth exept for the internet connection. When I look at the system info it says that i am connected and i get an IP from my router together with MAC adress and so on but down at the bottom where it says internet im just getting "Not connected, check network settings".

Now I have tried a lot of combinations with the settings both under the Network1 and Network2 tab, but im still not getting internet. I tried both 2.0.0 and the 2.99.1releases without luck.

Has anybody had this problem before? Would you please be so kind to help me resolve this issue?

Btw here are my specs of the macine:

Intel Atom 330 1.6GHz
NVIDIA ION graphics processor
2GB DDR2 800 MHz
2.5 HDD 320GB
Gigabit LAN
HDMI port

I had the same problem, I found d that rebooting after applying the settings worked for me - although I was setting it up after a few red wines, so that could have been the root of my problem, but it's worth a try.

OK so you have local connectivity but no internet connectivity to the wider world?

ssh in to your openelec box and tell us the output of:

ifconfig
route -n
cat /etc/resolv.conf
ping 8.8.8.8
ping google-public-dns-a.google.com

If I have helped you or increased your knowledge, click the 'thumbs up' button to give thanks :) (People with less than 20 posts won't see the "thumbs up" button.)

And post a screen shot of the settings page. Also you may have more luck posting this on the openelec forums.

Openelec forum is unusable may as well not exist, ppl cant register nor login, tis why ppl come grovel here

As for the problem I would start looking at the obvious, like router and network config, half of these problem are related to router and router misconfigurations, the other half are user errors.

I know this thread is old, but I'm having similar issues and I thought you guys might be able to help. I'm trying to avoid reinstalling OpenELEC but I'm getting to my wits end.

You have internet access, because 8.8.8.8 is on the internet. You have DNS because google-public-dns-a.google.com resolves properly.

So tell us exactly what problem you are having?

I was getting the "No Internet Connection. Check network settings." message on the Network section of the System Info section. It didn't matter what I did, I couldn't shake the connection error. I wasn't getting any weather and all the video addons gave errors when I tried to launch them.

I finally gave up and did a fresh install. Everything is working properly now, just a pain to redo all the settings, repositories, addons, etc.

Thing is, I still am puzzled what happened. The only thing I did was upgrade the firmware on my router. The router would give it an IP address but would no show a internet connection in the router status tab.

Thanks for replying. I'd still like to know what happened if anyone has any ideas.
