CDArt & Music Naming Conventions (4.0)
#1
Few questions around how this 'should' work compared to how its working for me. (I had things working on 3.6.1, but did a clean install to Frodo and 4.0 yesterday).

Issue is 'generic' cd art is coming up for an album when I have it selected in a list of albums. If I go into that album to the song list, however, it shows the correct CD art.

My music folders are /artist/album/, so it may be that...but not really certain.

Any ideas/thoughts? Would like to get this working again - really like the way it looks in Now Playing and all.

did you set up music library path and library structure in skin settings?

Yup. Both places (addon & skin) have the same folder set for music library path. And library structure is set to artist/album in skin.

CDArts are showing up in the CDArt addon fine, just having that issue when browsing.

CDarts do get stored in the mp3 directory itself, correct? Because it seems that's where they are all for me...other art is getting stored in the music library folder.

Wait...what? Sorry...that didn't make any sense (to me at least). What exactly are you asking/telling me to do?

Ok. Damn. That...sucks. Smile Guess my grand plan to have a nice local music art setup isn't going to fly.

And thanks! Smile

...wait - how does that work if you have multiple music sources? (i.e., one directory for compilations, one for single artist, etc.) Actually, how does it even handle compilations at all?

you can if you create a copy of the music library folder structure with only artwork included. then choose that folder in skin settings.

Add multiple music sources to your library. XBMC doesn't really handle compilations at all.

it handles all the same:
PATH FROM SKIN SETTINGS/ARTIST/ALBUM/cdart.png.
doesn´t work too good with compilations, nothing we can do about that.

Ah got it. I think the thing is that cdArtManager doesn't save cdArts and covers anywhere but in the actual location of the music files...so that restricts placement unless I want to manually move all of the cdart/cover files over to the music artwork library.

Given...there's problem some easy, two click way to do this I'm missing. Smile

And completely understand about the compilation issue...always been a bitch and a half to have soundtracks and compilations integrated in anyway. I should just be happy if I can get them all in as one item in the album list.

As a heads up, went back and redid everything so that paths point as directed and CDarts in a list of album still aren't showing the correct ones. They ARE showing when you go 'into' an album to a list of songs, but not for each album individually when browsing albums.

Let me know if this does/doesn't make sense...

...I'm a moron. I switched a setting back and didn't fix it when troubleshooting a cdArt Manager issue...got it working.

Apologies for the confusion.

...now to figure out why cdArt isn't downloading logos and things to the specified locations.
