Win Simple question I hope
#1
Hi,

I hope this is a simple question, i'm looking to make the jump from Windows Media Centre to XBMC since the PVR funtion has been added. I never done anything with Android or Linux so am totally new to anything non Windows based.

If I run a Windows build of MythTV as my PVR backend do I have to use a Windows Front end based device to view or can i for example use a Rasberry Pi running Linux to view the TV side of things. I.E can you mix your OS devices ?

Thanks
Matt

If i read that right, Mythbackend doesn't run on windows. It requires Linux.

Once you have Mythbackend running, on Mythbuntu for example, you can connect any compatible front-end to it.

I installed mythbackend on XBMCbuntu and connected a windows machine running XBMC to it. It worked. Glitchy, but it worked.

I went back to using Windows Media Center as my backend and XBMC on WIN7 on multiple boxes as my frontend. Works great.

I'll probably switch to XBMC PVR in version 13 when a few more kinks get ironed out.
