I want to replace an old school xbox with XMBC as I have a new SMART TV and AV

I want to
1) Play archived dvd .isos. Can xbmc upscale those?
2) Use as a PC for full YouTube and Skype and general browsing.
3) Play HD blu-ray and possibly 3D too. I will get a blu ray player unless its possible to copy them to disk and play them back with menus and everything. Can xmbc do 3D?

I expect the answers will be along the lines of:
1) RaPi for price.
2) Buy any quiet PC if you want a PC!
3) Buy xxx which can archive 3D blu rays and is better than a normal blu ray player.
4) Buy a blu ray player for new stuff and use one of the above for old stuff.

Thanks in advance,

Ian

I think your post is too long to expect people to read.

maybe edit it down to about 4 lines.

Any fm2 socket(a6+) or 1155 i3(3.gen) will do those things
For intel you can take a look at my htpcs Smile

My HTPCs
My server
My recycled build

Thanks - I looked your HTPC - looks really nice. I couldn't see what OS you use. I would want to use Linux. Are you able to suggest a ready made machine or must you build your own?
