XBMC Forum Rules: A Draft
#31
I am doing my best to comply to the best of my knowledge (assuming I am aware of all the rules I haven't read the lot as Im too busy providing free help to XBMC users via both wiki and forums), if you have something to share, please do, Im not a mind reader.

When I posted that you still had 8 lines of links in your signature, you removed them now and act like nothing is wrong. Don't act please

The "8 links" to how-tos on signature was used for is to aid me in providing support to XBMC users not to use it as a distraction. And done pre-rules with full Moderator awarness - I PM artrafael about it when before it was done)

I am complying to best of my knowledge and understanding,
To think when I came in here trying to help and leave with a bitter after taste.

Is that signature better? If not please let me know.

Be well.

What about something like this:

Something something something link 1 Something something something link 2 Something something something link 3 Something something something link 4 Something something something link 5 Something something something link 6 Something something something link 7 Something something something link 8

Code:
[size=x-small][url=http://google.com]Something something something link 1[/url] [b]•[/b] [url=http://google.com]Something something something link 2[/url] [b]•[/b] [url=http://google.com]Something something something link 3[/url] [b]•[/b] [url=http://google.com]Something something something link 4[/url] [b]•[/b] [url=http://google.com]Something something something link 5[/url] [b]•[/b] [url=http://google.com]Something something something link 6[/url] [b]•[/b] [url=http://google.com]Something something something link 7[/url] [b]•[/b] [url=http://google.com]Something something something link 8[/url] [/size]

...but within the rules and a space improvement from the last one. I'm sure someone more clever than I could make something that is double columned that doesn't look so harsh.

At the risk of joining someone else's argument - but merely trying to be an independent observer - we appear to have some of the most prolific, helpful and worthy contributors to this forum (and I thank all of you for that) arguing in public, and upsetting each other, over a signature rule that went live 24 hours ago.

I hate the act of "why me? what did I do wrong??" when the signature clearly breaks the rules... weather there should be more lines in the signature is not the point, point is the rules are live, we have allowed everyone to comment on it and if someone thought that there should be more lines in signatures that should have been said.

I know we are not going to please everyone with it, and people that actually took 2 minutes to think about these new rule additions would have figured out its not about their links in signatures, or pictures of Trakt... its about something else thats has been happening more and more on the forums.

personal fellings of you, me or anyone else come second to XBMC on these forums...

Unless I'm missing something, the one I'm seeing right now seems fine.

You cant do anything like that not when 300 chars limitation and that includes spaces, formatting like [b] and [color] etc all counts for the limitation not to mention for some reason [size =whatever] gets stripped/removed when you preview/save, even for some miracle could have 8 links (which after I edited I lost ability to have) even using url shorteners my current sig is 290 Characters.

Anyway the one I have now is temporary since its not nearly enough for me to use as an aid/tool to provide references without spending half hour on one reply on support. I dont have time to be provide support/edit wiki and still worry about if someone going to delete/ban me.

What a tangent this is, I came in here asking for something to be added to rules and ended up being a target.

So something is clear, do all these rules apply to everyone? Including Team members? What is the Moderator discretion, is there any?

Amet would say this even to other team members, so I wouldn't take offense to it ;)

If some of those are thrown on the wiki then wiki-links can be used, which only require four characters + title.

Ok Ned - tricks that's was the idea I wanted to wack most of my finding to wiki but it is a lot. I would like to learn your mysterious ways. I need to find myself a mentor in these mysterious ways.

Im ok with Amet, he was stalking a gazelle it turned out to be a Tasmanian devil, - still edible though. some pepper sauce.

@uNiversal
yep, I now strip the font size from signatures, as it never was meant to be in there from the beginning (I forced a certain font-size for signatures via CSS, but the size tag messed it up, even when set to "x-small"). That's why I strip them now.
As for the max length - actually BBCODE shouldn't be taken into account - if it still does, there is a bug.

Then there is a bug because BB code and spaces all count.

Thought this might be a good place to post this as a question. Is there any ruling regarding animated avatar images? I've seen a few (or maybe the same one) in some forum posts and they are really annoying. Just wondering if there was any thought to this type of thing since signatures seem to have limitations to prevent distractions. Thanks.
