Metropolis 2.6.3 for Frodo released
Hang tight.. I'm trying to get them to sort this out..

Metropolis 2.7.1 should address the issue with the sluggishness (the lack of packed textures). Hopefully it sorts things out for everyone.

2.8.0 for Gotham will be here soon. Really trying for this Wednesday.

just loaded 2.7.1 what a difference.
i feel really stupid now. i am amazed that the textures.xbt file could have such a dramatic improvement.
even the add-ons that took forever to load are up instantly now.
i tried it on gotham also and it is silk.

is there anyway to delete my (performance) post. or maybe it should stay as a warning to others.

you are doing wonders thank you.

Ok, now you have me curious....

Where did you get 2.7.1 from?
Through the XBMC addon itself?

I can't see where to get a zip from outside of XBMC.

Disregard,,,

I just found the answer in another thread.

I'd suggest you wait until XBMC does the upgrade automatically.

I've changed my personal GIT version to 2.3.0. There is/was no 2.7.1, I originally did that so my own version wouldn't get updated by the official release. My version is buggy, always changing, not officially supported, and really only for me. Hopefully this will prevent confusion.

But there is a version 2.7.1 -- it's the latest official release. XBMC will automatically update everyone to it.

it is really working great.

Oh, Frodo (I hardly think of Frodo anymore). He mentioned my unofficial Git before, so I though he was talking about my made-up version.

i have been doing a lot of testing and comparing skins and xbmc versions.
i have multiple configurations set up.

macgyver-i have been running your gotham version and really like it.
but i only just learned how to build textures.xbt files.
i was about to run texturepacker on yours when jingai's 2.7.1 was available. so i tested it first to learn what textures can do. it was amazing.

i currently have jingai's 2.7.1 running on gotham and remarkably smooth.

latter today i am gong to texturepack macgyver's personal version and test it.

i am doing this to see what works and what i like and to learn.
my brain is mush looking at and comparing versions of code.

In other words, it is now safe to re-activate auto-update for Metropolis on my OpenELEC 3.2.3? And the theme will even be faster than the last version? Smile

Don't think it should be any faster than the previous version (prior to the botched 2.7.0 release, I mean), but yes, it's safe to enable auto-updates now.
