I just install the final frodo and the epg is just black with the text. Is that normal?

No, but I guess you are using a PVR addon that uses only genre strings (no EPG colors) like Argus-TV. These genre strings are transferred with a GenreType=256 and this points to a missing background picture in (at least) the Confluence skin.
Could you try the following ans report back if this works: (based on Confluence as skin)
Go to the "addons\skin.confluence\media\epg-genres" folder and copy 0.png to 256.png.
If I read the EPG code correctly, this will give you back the grey background. (Can't test it at the moment...)
