Hi everyone,

Have played with XBMC a few times over the years but stuck with Mediaportal due to needing PVR functions. With the release of Frodo I've been running RC3 since release on Windows with a Mediaportal TV Server backend. Relatively pleased with it but would like to run Linux with a single seat setup and get an "appliance" like feel with it? Just wondering if anybody had any guides or hints/tips to the best way to switch to this?

Go for Openelec with tvheadend addon

Yup - seconded. If you want 'an "appliance" like feel' then Openelec is 100% the way to go.

Never realised that openelec was a single seat option always assumed that you needed another machine with a backend running. Feel a bit of a pillock now. Thanks fellas I'll give that a whirl.
