I use this addon with my Raspberry, Xbian as OS.
When I lock at a normal definition ty is run well, but when I lock at a hd definition, i have to wait a lot of time and after a fiew moment, the system hang.
Is this driver ok for hd television ?
I have the mpeg2 licence on my raspberry.
Do I have to buy a more power machine for watching hd tv ?
If I watch films from my NAS its run very well, no loag, no freeze

First of all, sorry if this is a repeated question, I've tried searching in the forum but couldn't find someone with the same problem.

Recently I installed IPTV Simple Client in my RPi with the latest version of OpenElec. I have a m3u file with the URLs of the multicast streams my TV provider give me. The file is as follows:

This is the file I used when configuring IPTVSimple.

I tried opening it on VLC on my PC and it works perfecty, so i figure it is not a network problem. Nevertheless, on the RPi sometimes it loads perfecty (no buffering) and other times it doesn't work at all.

I tried doing a iptables -F, just in case some firewall rule was stopping any multicast packet.

Could someone help me?

- tvg-logo is name of channel logo file without extension (.png). If this tag is absent then addon will use channel name to find logo.

that is outdated, we need name and extension now.
also there is no changelog info in the first page or in the github site. i saw more than a few people asking the same thing, with the same error because of that.

and now i have a question
there is way to put the url path of the icons in the m3u file?? this comes handy when you share m3u link with family and friends. i think @dhead requested something similar

In current version there is only one way to do that is set Channels Logos Base URL setting to http://mysite.com/logos/ then change tvg-logo tag value to cnn.png

what is the default/recomended height and width for the logos? i used a 500x500 png files but xbmc resized it and looks bad

I have a strange problem. I use the latest stable openelec and can receive two sat2ip channels (HD) perfectly and all other channels are audio only.

As I said, the first two channels are working, the others I receive only audio. Do you have any idea what the problem might be or how do I get more information about the problem?

This key will enable a single Raspberry Pi to decode MPEG-2 video in hardware.
Now you have video & audio for HD ,HD stream are not MPEG-2 .Try to buy licence and all your problem will be gone
This question doesent have any problem with PVR...

Thank you very much for this addon. Made my expat life much easier

I just have one question.
On the PVR setting I can set the timeout. My streams load very fast, so I set the timeout to 2 seconds.
But I guess that is not working... whenever a stream is missing, It is trying to load the channel for a long time... and I can't hit the back button or anything to stop it. And have to wait.
Apart from this everything works perfect.
Do you have any idea on how I can set this timeout?

Hello afedchin, I'm having the very same problem, some streams just keep trying to load til eternity! the only way to stop this is doing a hard reset, on the ATV you need to hold the button down + button menu for 6 seconds, and this happen also on XBMC for Mac (12.3 Frodo), you need to force quit XBMC.

Anyone knows if this is a bug from the XBMC player or knows a solution? it is very frustrating when this happens.

I figured out what cause the my streams to now work. It seems like my antivirus application (Eset Nod32 7) was blocking all incoming http traffic. The strange this is that only one source from my playlist is having this problem, the other sources seems to not have any issues with my antivirus application. any thoughts?

I could get IPTVSimple work.

Instead I have compiled a new version for my Rasperry PI running with Raspbmc

Here are the steps I had to do (if you want to try). You find my compiled version at the end of the post.

1. Connect to your Raspberry using Putty (user: "pi" password: "raspberry") and copy the following commands.
2. sudo apt-get install build-essential automake git libtool ca-certificates ( -> This install the libaries for compiling )
3. git clone https://github.com/afedchin/xbmc-addon-iptvsimple ( -> Get the sources of iptvsimple from gthub )
4. cd xbmc-addon-iptvsimple ( -> change the direcory where the sources have been downloaded )
5. git checkout frodo ( -> change to the branch for XMBC "frodo"
6. sh ./autogen.sh ( -> configs for the build process )
7. ./configure ( -> generates the make file )
8. sudo apt-get install zip unzip ( -> installs ZIP and UNZIP)
9. make dist-zip ( makes zip pvr.iptvsimple.1.6.1.zip
10. install the app via "Install from ZIP on your Raspbmc.
11. activate and configure the addon.

I have Raspberry Pi (model B) with installed Openelec 4.0.5. IPTVSimple works fine. But if I start playing any stream (MPEG2, SD resolution), then within a few seconds the CPU load is gradually increased from 25-30% to 90-95% and then remains at that level permanently. Most of the load of processor is XBMC (80-85%). This load causes the CPU temperature to rise to 67-72 C.

When I playing a stream from YouTube using the regular addon the CPU load is ~ 25% (h264, FullHD) and the CPU temperature is about 50-52C.

Why the big CPU load when using IPTVSimple? How to reduce CPU?

PS. I tried to ask this question to author PTVSimple at xbmc.ru forum, but this forum is censorship (premoderate) and unpleasant questions, it seems, just not published. Mainly discussed how to edit the EPG settings in m3u lists.
