NFS does not allow playback of all files?
#1
Hi,

Somehow i cant get movies to play when i try accessing them through NFS. I do see the list of movcies and stuff but somehow, only folders that have ISO-files in them can be played. If iadd the same map through SMB-protocol i dont get this problem. Any ideas what is causing this and how to solve it?

Im experiencing this on both my Ubuntu/XBMC 12.0 machine (An aspire revo) and on my laptop (Asus N53S, windows 7/8 installed)

It could easily im overlooking something since im not brilliant with networkstuff Wink

EDIT: My files are on a Synology NAS (DS212j)

Thank you for your response and my apology for my late reaction. Seemed i had some networkissues too that needed adressing first.

I checked the Debug Log, i can see the below passage in it:

19:49:17 T:7096 DEBUG: ParentPath = [sources://video/]

Im checking some stuff in the meantim as well (found the errormessage in several troubleshootingguides too in the meantime)

Ok, solved the problem now. Seemed i missed that privileges on the filessystem were indeed messed up. Beats me why this applied only some of the folders within the movies-directory but still, gld its solved.

For other users who might experience this problem, in your NAS, got to Filestation and check the properties of the folders you are experiencing trouble with. Go to the tab Permissions and uncheck and check again the options you want. The partially grayed out checkboxes can be misleading, took me a while to realise that that specific option only applied to some of the folders (so not all)

Hope this helps a bit for the non-techies around here Wink
