I have a lot of albums, movies, or tv shows that are missing rom the library view due to incorrect naming.
Is there a plugin or some sort of script I can run to find these files and rename them to the correct format?

There is a plugin Missing Movie Scanner that will show you which movies haven't been scanned in. I'm not aware of something similar for TV or music. It won't assist in the renaming either.

You could also have a look with a media manager tool like Ember or MediaCompanion. There's quite a few listed in the Supplemental Tools forum. I prefer Ember but YMMV.

but how will that compare what is in xbmc and what isn't or will it just look for mp3 tags?
