I was watching a film and the picture froze but the audio continued. This had happened before in the past, but I thought I had fixed it. So I logged in via ssh using putty and used
sudo reboot now
the system didn't reboot and so I hit the hard reset button on the case.
when it booted back up I was presented with grub prompt:
grub>
I thought this might have just been an oddity so I shutdown and booted up again. This time I was presented with the grub screen where I can select my OS.
I chose "ubuntu" (the only one on the list) and after a second the PC just rebooted again (POST screen then back to the grub selection). This behaviour can be repeated, It even happens when I select the memtest option.
So I thought maybe the drive was corrupted or something similar so I put the XBMC install disk an and booted up to that. The same thing happened, after a short while the PC just rebooted at showed me the POST screen again.
What could be going on?
