1080p is always 24 hz even though Windows is set to 50 hz

I just switched HDMI port in my TV and now XBMC is always 24 hz, even though I set it to 50 hz inside Windows via the Nvidia settings. Only if I switch from true fullscreen to XBMC in windowed mode will I get 50 hz in the XBMC menu and the ability to switch refresh rates depending on the files played.
The fixed 24 hz settings messes with my recordings, as they are in 50 hz.

What is going on since XBMC overrides the Windows settings of 50 hz unless I run it in windowed mode?

Most likely you have 3D enabled in the nvidia controlpanel.
Try turning it off
