I looked through a bunch of posts, but I must be missing something, I don't know if this is Related only to ATV2 running Frodo, but I can play any .strm files, instead of attempting to play them, it just opens the file and trys to show the contents within XBMC...please help, is there a setting i'm missing somewhere....

I'm a bit confused with your description. Are you opening the STRM file from within XBMC?
