Don't change display frame rate unless needed
#1
Hopefully this wouldn't take a lot of work to implement but here goes.
If you stop playing video then it would improve the user experience if the display rate didn't change, especially if you most of your content is at the same frame rate e.g. Blu-ray.
Not the biggest issue in the world but nearly all TVs these days jump around a bit and put up a banner when you do.
Thanks everyone. Smile

tell this the other side of the userbase which wants exact the opposite.

How would this as an option cause problems for others who don't enable it?

Have you even tried using XBMC running at 24fps!

xbmc is getting more complex with each option added . People are not even understanding the difference between the 2 options for refreshrate adaption we have now (always and on start/stop). If you come up with sane easy understandable option names for the third mode i may consider going for it.

we have

refeshrate adaption :

- off - don't change refreshrate
- on start/stop only - only change refreshrate at start and stop of playback. Bringing the menu in front of a playing/paused video doesn't change refreshrate (same reason you pointed out)
- always - change refreshrate whenever entering/leaving fullscreenvideo

Now you want the third option which is "on start only" Only change refreshrate on start of playback.

We and you understand those settings. But for the most of our userbase its just like (wtf of a complex software/feature is that).

or like Hitcher said, run xbmc in 24p Wink the reason people don't use xbmc in 24p is because of non-fluid menus. If the op does not have any issues with nonfluid menus, he might as well always keep it at 24p
