Audio output dependent on selected source
#1
Hi

I have openelec running on an asrock ion 330ht. Its connected to my tv by hdmi but also to my (rather old but very nice) surround reciever by optical cable spdif.

When I'm watching tv, YouTube and video files the tv speakers are alright, but when watching a movie or playing music I'd rather use my surround reciever.

Is there any way I can make xbmc switch the audio output between hdmi and optical dependent on the source? In the setup menu it looks like I have to use either hdmi or the optical...

Sorry to hear that. That makes xbmc pretty useless - at least for my wife as I really cant ask to go deep into the settings every time she wants to hear music.

Is there anyway I can have XBMC output to both at once?

idk if this applies but check it out - dual audio on Linux, not depending on source but I think, always outputs to both devices at same time.
