XBMC suddenley crashing constantly...
#1
Just today, out of nowhere, XBMC is crashing constantly. Have made no changes, so I am baffled as to what may cause this.
Running Eden 11.0, Windows 7.
Log is here : http://pastebin.com/xUtc5GZM
Please do not answer "update to Frodo" as I am not interested in running Frodo at this time, and there is no reason Eden should not work.

And thank you artrafael for pointing out that the log I previously posted contained the text "1channel", but this is not a 1channel issue and I never once asked about it. Also it seems to appear in my log even though this time I never opened it. This is not my fault. So can you please look at my log file and give me a serious answer rather than a ban threat?

Thanks for posting a new log, but your previous log did end with the following, which is more than just containing the text "1Channel", it was actively running... and crashing:

Either way. This is extremely frustrating. XBMC is completely useless at this point. Even when I don't leave the main menu I get crashes after 5 minutes at most. Forgive my frustration, but XBMC makes up about 90 percent of what I use this PC for and now it's all gone Sad

Your new log shows the following at the end:
Code:
20:49:56 T:2884   ERROR: XFILE::CFileCache::Open - failed to open source <http://dl.dropbox.com/u/94360623/My-Repo/addons.xml>
20:49:56 T:2884   ERROR: Repository Jas0n`s REPO returned no add-ons, listing may have failed
20:55:09 T:3004 WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(audio)::Get - asked for new data packet, with nothing available
20:55:15 T:3000 WARNING: Previous line repeats 5 times.
20:55:15 T:3000 WARNING: CRenderManager::FlipPage - timeout waiting for flip to complete
20:55:15 T:3000 WARNING: CRenderManager::FlipPage - timeout waiting for previous frame
20:55:20 T:212 WARNING: Previous line repeats 53 times.
20:55:20 T:212 WARNING: XFILE::CVideoDatabaseDirectory::GetIcon - Unknown nodetype requested videodb://2/2/522/0/
20:55:20 T:3000 WARNING: CRenderManager::FlipPage - timeout waiting for previous frame
So, if this is the actual point where XBMC crashed, then I'd say it may have something to do with the dropbox account (the URL returns a 404). As such, we have no control over the unreliability of external sites. Try disabling all those add-ons (you know which ones) and see if XBMC still crashes. If it does, post a new log.

OK. Disabled add-ons and loaded a video that I have locally on my hard drive. Same issue as before.
Log here : http://pastebin.com/AqHzUKJN

And also, a log file from when I open XBMC and do nothing. Still crashes. Here : http://pastebin.com/4V66pzW2

I didn't notice this before, but please turn on debug log (wiki)ging and post a new log where XBMC crashes when you're not doing anything. This will capture more diagnostic information.

Thank you for taking the time to check this out, as I have little to no idea how all this works. Takes a bit longer to crash if I do nothing. Enabled debug logging and restarted XBMC, did nothing and here is the log I got : http://pastebin.com/Q3NGN7Fv
That is a LOT of data. Hope it helps.

I don't see anything in the log that jumps out at me, but I'm no expert, especially when it comes to Windows. If you were running XBMC 12.1, I would point you to this thread as the possible cause: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=159819
But you're running Eden, so I don't know. Maybe someone else may have some suggestions.

As per usual, when I have a major issue with XBMC it seems it's a bug that many others are having. Good to know I didn't do anything that caused this problem.
So can I assume from that other thread that the issue has been fixed in the official repo? As I type this a video is playing in XBMC and my fingers are crossed.

Yes, it has been fixed in the repositories.
Additionally, code has been modified in XBMC making sure that newer XBMC versions are not susceptible to this issue.
