Linux Sound control issues

hello,

this forum helped me a couple of times - but i did not find a hint for my problem with the volume control. i use the following setup with xbmc (frodo) on a linux machine (ubuntu). the machine is connected to my amplifier using hdmi. if i use volume control keys on my keyboard or volume control over yatse there is full power at 100% but almost silence at 50%. i assume that xbmc's internal volume as well as the systems volume is changed and thus the usable control range is 'half' only. is there any possibility to freeze either the volume of the system or xbmc at 100%?

thanks for your ideas.

If you find that both the system sound level and XBMCs sound level change when you hit your keys you can modify keymaps/keyboard.xml file to ignore those keypresses. See the wiki for how it's done.
