Intel Celereon 847 - Anyone using?
#1
Hey Guys,

I have just put together a pretty descent xbmc combined front / backend for the lounge, now I'm looking for some other lower power units to use as sole frontends.

I have seen this processor (integrated onto a m-itx motherboard -- http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/C8HM70IHDMI) knocking around -- it's really low power usage, and is apparently faster than the amd fusion e350 / 450 units. Can anyone confirm this? or at least confirm they are suitable for bluray / HDTV playback?

Cheers,

Chris

GPU can handle HD video decoding anyways, so it should be very good for an HTPC since it will just be doing GUI stuff.

Celeron 847 thread. There are other threads too. The verdict is very good, especially for OpenELEC.

No worries -- just didn't want to repost Smile. It's a winner. Just avoid Windows 7 + XBMC's internal player with it. Windows 8 XBMC seems to work and OpenELEC it runs very well (tested that one myself).
