I am guessing it interacts with the computer just as a usb keyboard or mouse would. If that's the case, it shouldn't be a big deal to get it working with xbmc (as long as they have the proper linux drivers and such)

But then again, this device is meant for personal computer use, I don't know how good it would be for 10 foot/htpc use

Sure you can keep the device next to you on the couch and use it instead of a remote, but remember that this device is tethered to usb

I think a kinect-like system would be a better option for htpc use
