Are you overclocked? I've seen this behavior on occasion and solved it by dialing down the overclocking.

I am yeah, up to 900.. it's happening on both my Pi's..

i'll try turning it back down and see what happens.. it works fine on everything except this directory strucutre..if i use library mode i can browse the tv shows fine..
