I have the most recent release of Raspbian Wheezy running on my RPi. I installed XBMC following these instructions.
The only other thing I have installed is Midnight Commander so it's a pretty fresh install.

The problem I am having is that XBMC will not play video files that omxplayer can. The video files in question were able to play perfectly fine in XBMC before I did the fresh install.

What is causing this and more importantly, how can I fix this problem?

I would appreciate your help on this.

Firstly post the mediainfo (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en) of an example file.
If there's nothing obvious from that, you may need to post a sample file.

What gpu memory split do you have?
omxplayer will play most videos with 64M, but xbmc will probably need 128M to handle the GUI.

Ahh thanks! I remember seeing a memory-split setting in the raspi-config. I had no idea of what it did until now. I increased it from the default 64MB to 128MB and now my videos play! Woo!

Would have been nice for XBMC to show me an error message though.
