Why are you transcoding? Video codec not supported, or buffering problems?
Can you post mediainfo (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en) of an example file that requires transcoding?

Are you playing from network? Wired/wireless? hdmi or analogue audio? hdmi passthrough capable receiver? overclocked?
