Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of building a budget friendly HTPC for my brother and wondering if anybody has or used http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813500055
http://www.zotacusa.com/nm10-dtx-ion-upgrade-kit.html

Nvidia card is a must have.
The setup will mainly be xbmc on linux, my main question is if I'll be able to output audio through the NVIDIA dedicated hdmi card

Thanks!

I believe it will work but honestly all of the ION stuff I have is integrated. I've used NVIDIA video cards to get sounds via HDMI in the past but it's been years. Most of the stuff I use is along the lines of this -> http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004WO8OBC/?tag...sion-kb-20 You might even save money since that appears to be ready to roll sans OS. Bare is $80 cheaper -> http://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-Intel-Barebo...=pd_cp_e_0

I've got about 4 Zotacs and an ASUS that work great.

P.S. you could also use a Pivos XIOS flashed to Linux!
Openelec Gotham, MCE remote(s), Intel i3 NUC, DVDs fed from unRAID cataloged by DVD Profiler. HD-DVD encoded with Handbrake to x.264. Yamaha receiver(s)

I've been looking at that board too (though honestly I don't have a need for it, but it's a great deal). I would be very surprised if audio didn't work through HDMI on it. Zotac knows HTPC users are a big number of their customers, and they even demo XBMC on their boxes a lot.

If it's mostly for an HTPC and you don't need the extra PCI slots and extra 2 SATA ports, this is a better deal: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813138368

More powerful, and $72 with the coupon code mentioned on the page. Last week they even had a better deal that included 8 GB of RAM all for $75.

Worth noting that the OP's board is a Mini-DTX not Mini-ITX form factor (it has two PCI-E sized expansion slots not one) - so case choices may be a bit more limited?
